Hawthorne Trench

Reconstructed Great War Trenches

Set in the Elham Valley in Kent, just north of Folkestone. These reconstructed Great War trenches show exactly what German and British trenches in the Somme region looked like. Toby Dingle borrowed a digger to excavate 150 tonnes of chalk on his dad Richard's farm. These trenches give you an amazing glimpse of what the trenches looked like. They have teamed up with historian Andy Robertshaw to create an experience that can only felt by actually being inside a trench. They have open days on Saturdays throughout the year.
