I've been making models since my childhood. I discovered that I could make it a career and trained in modelmaking in Rochester, Kent. I started making architectural models professionally in 1981 and worked for most of London's top modelmakers. The last modelmakers I worked for was 3DD, who specialize in high quality marketing models. In 2023 I had a career change and became a Technician at Sevenoaks School. I am passing on some of my skills and knowledge to a younger generation. I am also able to help in history lessons as they learn about WW1 Trench Warfare.

I have made military models for a hobby and it is these that have received a lot of attention on the internet, especially my WW1 models. which made 'Front Page' Reddit and are circulated widely on social media. My postings on Imgur had a huge number of views during the centenaries of the Great War. People find my 3D explanations of WW1 trench warfare very helpful. My online blogs on Military Modelling Forum, explaining how I construct my models, became very popular. When the Forum ceased to exist in early 2018, I set up this website to show my work and originally it had tutorials of how I make everything. I have removed the tutorials as I've written a book, which explains my WW1 models in much greater detail. My book is called Modelling WW1 Trench Warfare and published by Crowood Press. It is available to purchase from most online booksellers or direct from Crowood. It is getting many positive reviews from modelmakers and history enthusiasts.
You will find some of my old Military Modelling articles on this website, plus explanations on sculpting by carving and creating a twisted wire gem tree.

These days you can find me blogging on Planet Figure Forum and Scale Models Forum. I do have Imgur albums and I dabble with Facebook and Instagram, but I have not been very active recently. Social media is addictive and needs constant feeding - which I can't be bothered with! (Please don't take it personally if I don't accept your FB 'friend' requests. It's not you, I just get a lot of requests! I am friendly and very happy to help, so ask questions!)

My WW1 interest started with my collection of family memorabilia from the period. My Grandparents and their siblings were just ordinary people caught up in the global conflict. My paternal Grandfather had emigrated to Canada and only returned to look after his younger brother. They volunteered and served together in the Royal Garrison Artillery. While back in England, Ernest Belsey met my Grandmother Alice, so I am a result of the Great War. If it hadn't happened, I wouldn't exist!

If you don't like military models then you will find that I can make beautiful models too. You can find them in a section called 'OTHER MODELS'. I make flowers from sponge foam and make gifts for my family.
You can find other parts of this website which explain how my Christian faith enables me to cope with difficulties in life. My biggest challenge so far was a 7 year battle with arthritis. During the worst period I was unable to dress myself due to the pain and stiffness in my hands. I've been free from symptoms for about 10 years now, thank God (and the NHS). I'm a passionate Christian and my friendship with my Saviour causes me to want to use my talents to help others. I sometimes wonder why I am drawn to such dark subjects, but my desire is to educate, not promote war. War causes many more problems than it solves. We must learn from our history to avoid making the same mistakes again.

I have no qualification in research or history, apart from GCE History. So, if something's wrong, that's why! I have spent hours studying photos and writings about trenches in order to create these models. I try to get things right!
