1:32 scale Trench Sections
I've been creating a series of trench sections, which explain different aspects of trench construction as well as the cladding preferences (revetment) of each nation.
10 Sections together.
Each model is lit from above and the internal models have lamps too.

An old soldier looks at change - Brodie helmet and PH hood. He's forgotten to duck in the shallow trench!

British Front Line Dugout
My converted Tommy's War figures were beautifully painted by Mike Butler.
Jimmy and Uncle
Mike named the figures after two characters from the film Journey's End.

Just the figures to add now.
Typical French Trench
The French High Command didn't want their troops 'comfortable'. They wanted them to win back lost territory.
French Trench
Soldier looks at a butterfly. (Made of a reduced print on paper.)
Laying mines under enemy trenches
This section describes the process of clay-kicking and laying a mine.
Clay Kicking
The 'kicker' sits on a cricififix chair. A second member catches and 'bags' the soil, while a third guy puts the bags on a tram, to be removed up the tunnel.
Ammonal Charge
The figure is 'tamping' or blocking the tunnel, to force the explosion upwards.
Reversed German Trench
After capturing a trench a new firestep had to be dug as the old one faced the wrong direction. (Harry and Bob were painted by Mike Butler.)
Reversed Trench
The new owners a facing a counter attack before they settle in. The Lewis gunner listens for instructions as the officers spots the enemy approaching.
Converted Figures
I converted these figures from Tommy's War originals. Mike Butler then enhanced then further before adding his wonderful paintwork.
